Interactive Metronome The Interactive Metronome is an assessment and treatment tool which can be used in therapy to improve the neurological processes of motor planning sequencing and processing. It has been found to be beneficial in improving
·Attention
·Concentration
·Motor planning
·Sequencing
·Impulsivity
·Endurance
·Motor skills and co-ordination
For research regarding this program please see under links Interactive metronome.
In the Optimal Learning centre we use the (IM) as one of our assessment tools to gain insight about left/right integration, sequencing and synchronisation of movement in reference to sound input. We found that combination of IM+ kinesiology or IM + Neurofeedback can be very beneficial with many learning problems, attention/concentration problems and left/right integration concerns.
How does it work?
The IM program provides a structured, goal-oriented process that challenges the patient to synchronize a range of hand and foot exercises to a precise computer-generated reference tone heard through headphones. The patient attempts to match the rhythmic beat with repetitive motor actions. The feedback received through audio and visual guidance system via headphones allows the patient to get moment to moment information how well they are executing task that is required of them. It is through this feedback that improvements can be optioned.
